Endoscopy and Minor Operations

PacifiCheck offers endoscopy and minor operation service at government licensed Day Procedure Center. All endoscopy and minor operations will be performed by medical specialist in person. It obviated the need for hospital admission, and the expenses is covered by most medical insurance schemes in Hong Kong.

Upper GI endoscopy (OGD)

Upper GI endoscopy (OGD)

Fasting for at least six hours is required before OGD examination.

On arrival, the clinic staffs will check the indications for examination again and make sure all vital signs are normal.

Before the start of OGD examination, local anaesthetic spray will be given into the mouth. The endoscopist will give intravenous sedation in person. Most clients will be in sleeping condition throughout the whole procedure, without any discomfort. OGD allows us to have detailed examination to the throat, the swallowing tube, the stomach, and duodenum. Tissue sample from the stomach will be taken to check for the presence of Helicobacter pylori. Small polyps can be removed immediately, and suspicious areas can be biopsied.

After the procedure, clients will take rest for about 30 minutes before leaving the clinic. Full diet can be resumed after about 2 hours.

Lower GI endoscopy

Lower GI endoscopy (Colonoscopy)

Bowel cleansing has to be done at home the day before colonoscopy.

On arrival, the clinic staffs will check the indications for examination again and make sure all vital signs are normal.

Before the start of colonoscopy, the endoscopist will give intravenous sedation in person. Most clients will be in sleeping condition throughout the whole procedure, without any discomfort. Colonoscopy allows us to have detailed examination of the entire length of colon, from caecum to anal canal. Small polyps can be removed immediately, and suspicious areas can be biopsied.

After the procedure, clients will take rest for about 30 minutes before leaving the clinic. Full diet can be resumed at any time.

Flexible cystoscopy

Flexible cystoscopy

The commonest symptom of urinary tract cancer is the presence of blood in urine, and 90% of urinary cancer grows in the urinary bladder. Cystoscopy is indicated when cancer in the bladder is suspected.

On arrival, the clinic staffs will check the indications for examination again and make sure all vital signs are normal.

Before the start of cystoscopy, local anaesthetic will be applied to the urinary opening. The endoscopist will give intravenous sedation in person. Most clients will be in sleeping condition throughout the whole procedure, without any discomfort. Cystoscopy allows us to have detailed examination of the urethra, prostatic channel of men, bladder neck, trigone area, both ureteric orifices and nearly every part of the inside of the urinary bladder. Small bladder stones can be removed immediately, and suspicious areas can be biopsied.

After the procedure, clients will take rest for about 30 minutes before leaving the clinic. Full diet can be resumed at any time.

Minor operations

Minor operations

Most minor operations, such as removal of skin lumps, moles, adult circumcision, vasectomy etc., can be done under local anaesthesia at Day Procedure Center.

On arrival, the clinic staffs will check the indications for examination again and make sure all vital signs are normal.

Before the start of the minor operation, the surgeon will give intravenous sedation and perform local anaesthesia in person. Most clients will be in sleeping condition throughout the whole procedure, without any discomfort.

Clients can decide whether the surgical specimen is sent for histological examination or not.

After the procedure, clients will take rest for about 30 minutes before leaving the clinic. Full diet can be resumed at any time.
